On Saturday, January 16th, Julio González, a young Xinka leader and member of the resistance to the Canadian owned mine El Escobal in San Rafael las Flores near Mataquescuintla, was gravely injured after being shot by unknown assailants at his home. The group is running 24 hour security for the family on a rotational basis. We are collecting money here to help offset expenses as the members are being pulled away from their homes as harvest season begins. We have set up a GoFundMe account here for the González family, as well. Please see here for information on Mataquescuintla and El Escobal.
*Unfortunately, at this time, we will not be offering charitable donation receipts. Weekly transfers will be made to the group. We are happy to share transfer documentation as proof of transparency. Please message us directly.
